Welcome Volunteers!!! YOUTH & ADULTS!!!
The Youth United Waypresents the opportunity for students to volunteer y
ear-round. During the school year, students may volunteer individually or with their schools. The program links non-profit organizations with students who want to give their time and energy to our community. Students provide much needed and appreciated services to local human service agencies that serve adults, the elderly, troubled teens, and low-income citizens in our community. Students benefit from learning more about their community and its needs, exploring career options, and using their talents, while gaining experience for future endeavors.
During the summer, the program is open to students age 13 to 24. Students work at least 40 hours over a six-week period at local non-profit organizations. Students receive training from speakers, adult volunteers, and Youth United Way alumni. Organizations also train their volunteers for specific tasks. A detailed training manual is given to each participant.
A recognition ceremony is held for both the Youth United Way Student Volunteer Program and the Summer Youth Corps. Students receive certificates and t-shirts. During the summer, those students completing a certain numbers hours of service to the community are also presented with the President’s Service Award. Youth United Way is able to give these awards thanks to a generous annual gift by Eaton Aerospace Vickers Corporation.
