Genesis and Light Center’s GLEAM Summer Camp takes place June 10, 2024 through July 26, 2024 at 4914 North State St. Jackson, MS 39206. Volunteers will assist G&L staff with our 8-week summer camp. The goal of the program is assist at-risk youth K-9th graders in preventing learning loss and prepare them for the next grade. We need 10 to 20 dedicated volunteers to help implement camp activities, including one-on-one tutoring, educational assistance, STEAM learning activities, arts and crafts, computer activities, and extracurricular activities. Summer Camp volunteers help staff coordinate educational and recreational activities to help scholars appreciate and value education, build work ethic, teamwork, and support the work of Genesis and Light Center. Volunteers are expected to serve ten or more hours per week during summer camp and if volunteers only serve during the morning educational sessions or the evening recreational sessions, they are free to do so. Summer support volunteers help with administrative tasks, lunch supervision, maintenance, transportation, or fundraising.
